The End Part I
Today was the day of our final. it was almost like a limbo. We had two hours of drop in before the final but many of us had already finished reviewing. It reminded me of AP Testing in the afternoon, when everyone knows it’s coming and they’re all anxious about it but they can’t really do anything about it except wait.
The final was a bit trickier than our weekly exams. The multiple choice tested some weirder concepts and the free response questions were largely based on material from the first two weeks. There were some questions about the forces acting in uniform circular motion and I have to say I didn’t really study that because we were never directly asked that in class. I do believe the final was fair and at least it’s over with now so let’s get on with the fun!
Visiting the Planetarium
Professor Yao organized a trip to the Glasgow Science Centre after our final. A lot of people around me were excited about watching a show in the planetarium. The walk there took about 30 minutes but once we got there, it was as if we were little children. The centre had a total of three floors but many of us spent our time before the show on the second floor. There were dozens of interactive displays to go through and many of them were super fun. There were optical illusions, puzzles, and water vortexes. It seemed like people were having fun everywhere I looked.
We went into the planetarium at 4:00 pm and since it was the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, we were given a presentation about the Apollo 11 missions and space. We had a speaker that talked to us for the entire time and showed us different constellations, the moon, and the moons of Saturn. I have to admit that I fell asleep again for about 10 minutes. After the presentation finished, it was time for the museum to close so we all left.
Trendy Food
We decided to go to a restaurant called Firebird after the museum closed. We had to walk there and it was raining a bit so that sucked. After about 20 minutes we arrived at the restaurant and it looked very nice and upscale. I ordered their special for the day, which was rigatoni with bacon, as well as a side of fries. The pasta was pretty good but I thought the price was a bit high for the amount and quality of food I got. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate tiramisu and it looked very promising when it came out. Unfortunately it didn’t taste as good as it looked but that might just be down to personal preference. The tiramisu was made with dark chocolate and there were virtually no ladyfingers. The chocolate was kind of thick and made me thirsty rather than refreshed.
By the time we got back, it was around 9:00 pm and I spent the rest of the night in my room relaxing. It was a long day but very fun and we’re only halfway done…
