The Happenings
I am a bit behind in posting because the workload ramped up. Today we went over tutorial questions with Freya (our sub because Sophie is sick) and then had our lab. The tutorial review actually went very well. We were stuck on a few hard questions, such as what angle does a skier fall off a frictionless snowball and at what height should a roller-coaster drop from to just go through one loop. We came together and helped each other and I thought it was one of the best sessions yet.
Then we had our dreaded lab. A lot of us had anxiety about the lab because we barely finished on time for the first two. However the lab wasn’t too bad this time. We had to record a video of projectile motion and used physics tracker to obtain a table of our change in x and y motion with respect to time. For once we were able to work meticulously on our lab reports instead of rushing through the questions to have some kind of finished product to turn in. Many of us finished before the three hours were up and many of us checked our work several times and wrote fleshed out answers and explanations.
I also got to play foosball today during lunch and dinner and it was a lot of fun. It brought back memories from when I would play in Klassic Kids (elementary school). Turns out I still have the technique to hit the ball with a lot of power, and sometimes my ball produces a lot of backspin and goes into the goal after bouncing back from the side walls.
It was a great day up unti lthe point where I got back to the dorm. We had to read about rotational motion and all that jazz and it was one of the roughest readings to date. Equations were thrown at us and it’s hard for me to visualize rotational motion and the caveats of it because I rarely interact with rotation objects. It was a pain and I ended up reading and doing some sample exercises for about four hours. Not good at all. Today was one of the best school days but also one of the worst homework days to date.
